The public organization " Association " Woman and Society " (AWS) was established in 1995 as a non-profit organization . In 2012, AZhO was re- registered with the Ministry of Justice and as a republican public organization .
During its activity, the AJO has cooperated with international and local organizations, as well as government agencies of cities and regions of the Republic of Tajikistan, with the support of the Soros Foundation , the Eurasia Foundation , the Pragma Corporation , Mama Cash , Global Fund , IREX, ACTED, UNDP, NSIFT, GIZ, RTLC project (USAID), ILO, UN, Helvetas , IFC, US Embassy , for the purposes of:
- Social mobilization members of migrant worker families, small farmers and vulnerable families to start and strengthen their own businesses.
- Promoting land reform and increasing the legal literacy of land users on issues of land and water relations.
- Development of civil society through the provision of educational and consulting services on legal and business issues .
- Improving the socio - economic status of women and the level of legal education of women.
- Preventing violent extremism, combating trafficking people and support for migrant workers.
