Republican public organization "Gurdofarid" aims to increase the capacity of youth, girls, vulnerable people, and migrants as well as their families and strengthen their resilience against violent extremism (VE).
Gurdofarid has been operating since 2008 and is based in the Bobojon Gafurov district in Sughd. The NGO conducts activities nationwide and cooperates with state actors as well as other local and regional (Central Asian) civil society organizations (CSO). Furthermore, Gurdofarid has experience to work with international agencies and donors such as the EU, UNICEF and the US Embassy, UNDP, HELVETAS. The NGO implemented projects in the fields of
- Education (English language courses, returning girls back to school and universities, legal literacy)
- Preventing violent extremism (awareness raising, trainings, media literacy)
- Media literacy (creation of an educational entertainment platform QLEVER: qlever.asia, strategies against hate speech in social media)
- Empowering women and youth (economic growth, human rights, peacebuilding competences, SDG)
- Promoting youth to participate in the decision making processes
