Public organization “Marifat” has been working since 2000 and it is based in Khuroson district of Khatlon region.
Date of Registration: the 25th of May 2000. Public organization “Marifat” was re-registered on November 5, 2015, under No. 1690 in the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan.
The mission of the public organization “Marifat” is:
- Promotion of reduction of poverty level,
- economic and social development of society,
- Increasing the role of women in society,
- Development of cooperation with local authorities and civil society.
The PO “Marifat” has implemented projects in the field of:
- Education (promoting training for women and girls for vocational courses)
- Youth (creating social and economic opportunities for young people, holding seminars on the “Start and improve your business” program)
- Gender equality (raising awareness of domestic violence, providing legal and psychological counseling for rural women, technical assistance and recommendations on women's economic empowerment; conducting research on the status of women entrepreneurs; training for rural women, information campaign on the Law of Tajikistan “On the Prevention of Domestic Violence”)
- Health (information campaign on HIV and reproductive health of labor migrants and members of their families).
Public Organization “Marifat” is active throughout the country and cooperates with governmental structures as well as other local civil society organizations and media. In addition, “Marifat” has experience in working with international agencies and donors such as the US Embassy, EFCA, Embassy of Japan in Tajikistan, OSCE.
