General information
National Foundation "Silk Road - the Road of Consolidation" was established in May 1999 and registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan. The last re-registration took place on September 30, 2024 (No. ИҶ 493 "Б"). The Foundation is one of the leading public organizations in the country, uniting the efforts of the state, civil society and international partners to achieve national unity, develop tourism, preserve cultural heritage and strengthen peace.
Since its foundation, the National Foundation has been actively involved in the public life of Tajikistan and Central Asia, being a member of the Public Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, headed by the President of the country, the Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon. Representatives of the Foundation take part in council meetings, making analytical reports, scientific proposals and initiatives aimed at consolidating society.
Achievements and key initiatives
- The First International Festival of Handicraft of Central Asia (1999): Organized with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Tajikistan. Artists from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan participated. The forum became the basis for the formation of cultural ties between the peoples of the region.
- Project and the Caravans of Peace and Unity on the Road of Consolidation: The first Caravan (by route: Kulma Pass - Murghab - Khorog - Kulyab - Dushanbe - Ayni - Khujand - Isfara) was held in 1999 to commemorate the second anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and National Accord. Symbolic act: a "Vase of Unity" was created from the soil of each region of the country and handed over to the President. The subsequent Caravans (2000, 2002, 2006, 2022) covered all regions of Tajikistan and became an important element in strengthening national unity.
- Construction of the International Silk Road Museum: The project includes 10 ethnographic halls, a library, an institute for the study of heritage, conference halls and exhibition areas.

- Publication of the monograph “The Great Silk Road. The history of formation, prosperity and decline”.

- Preparation of analytical reports for the Government of Tajikistan.
- Cultural heritage:
- Promotion of the contribution of the Tajik people to the development of the Great Silk Road.
- Organization of festivals, exhibitions and round tables on the topics of history, art and culture.

- Joint projects with international organizations:
Initiatives aimed at strengthening social cohesion, preventing extremism and developing civil society.
- Promotion of scientific diplomacy: Participation in international scientific conferences dedicated to the Belt and Road Initiative. Promotion of the need to integrate the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan until 2030 with the Chinese BRI.
- Programs for youth: Organization of educational courses and trainings for young people. Involvement of young people in cultural and social initiatives.
