Non-profit organization registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan on November 22, 2000, with subsequent re-registrations in 2007, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2021. The last date of re-registration is 29.09.2023. The organization is the legal successor of the Bureau “Women in Development”, established in 1995 with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and operates in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The mission of the Public Organization "Gender and Development" is to strengthen the potential of the women's movement in the Republic of Tajikistan.
PO "Gender and Development" is focused on improving the socio-economic status of women, empowering women, promoting gender equality and creating a level playing field for all members of society. The organization assists in conducting broad awareness-raising campaigns, educational programs and events, as well as in supporting and implementing economic initiatives for marginalized populations.
PO "Gender and Development" actively cooperates with state partners, international partners and local NGOs, which allows effective implementation of programs in all regions of the country. The organization has implemented more than 80 projects with the support of international donors such as UNDP, USAID, UNICEF, EU, ACTED, etc.
