EURASIA FOUNDATION OF CENTRAL ASIA - TAJIKISTAN

PROGRAMS

The Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia-Tajikistan (EFCA-Tajikistan) is a non‐profit organisation, founded in 2009 to mobilise public and private resources to strengthen local communities and improve the civic and economic well‐being of citizens in the country. EFCA - Tajikistan was officially registered in 2009 as a republican public organization.

Our vision is to have the most significant impact in fostering a society where citizens develop creative solutions to problems. We are proud of our track record in achieving just this regarding issues such as inclusive gender-sensitive economic development and market access, human rights, public safety, entrepreneurship, legal services and transparency.

We have extensive experience working with international donors, and national, regional and local government institutions in implementing projects aimed at combating corruption, extremism, terrorism, gender equality, development of civil society, as well as social entrepreneurship throughout the country: in the Districts of Republican Subordination, Khatlon, Sughd and GBAO.

One critical component of our organisation's strategy is our understanding of the significance of including relevant government organs as stakeholders in a given project's development and implementation. We believe that the best way to improve quality of life is through the interaction and mutual cooperation of citizens, governmental agencies and businesses.

Additionally, our work is guided by our desire to improve the social, economic and labor opportunities of vulnerable groups, including youth and women. We work to develop skills that help people find employment and start businesses while protecting their rights through legal awareness raising. In particular, EFCA - Tajikistan follows a community-centred development approach that centres on fostering local resilience.  Please find more information about our organization on http://ef-ca.tj/.

Prior to its registration as a local organization in 2009, EFCA-Tajikistan has been working closely with the Eurasia Foundation since 2005. EFCA-Tajikistan has run development projects for the World Bank, UNDP, UN Women, USAID, UNICEF, EU, DFID, IREX, SDC, as well as the Danish, British, Dutch, New Zealand, Norwegian, Finnish, Canadian, German and U.S. Governments, as well as more than 20 corporations working in Central Asia. EFCA-Tajikistan has implemented more than 47 long-term projects with an average budget of 200,000 – 1.4 million USD.

EFCA - Tajikistan is also a member of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations on Transparency and Anti-Corruption of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In 2023, EFCA-Tajikistan initiated the creation of a Network of Civil Society Organizations to counter radicalism, extremism and terrorism, which included more than 60 public organizations and civil society activists.
