The mission of the NGO “Khurshed” is to protect and to strengthen civil, economic, social, medical and cultural rights and freedoms of the citizens of Tajikistan.
“Khurshed” has been operating since 2006 and is based in Dushanbe. The NGO conducts activities nationwide and cooperates with state actors as well as other local civil society organizations and media institutions. Furthermore, “Khurshed” has experience to work with international agencies and donors such as the US Embassy, EFCA and Christensen Foundation. The NGO implemented projects in the fields of
- Education (promoting education for girls to continue school, computer class for orphans)
- Youth (creation of social and economic opportunities for youth, capacity building of young journalists such as courses for blogging, establishment of young journalist clubs)
- Gender equality (raising awareness about domestic violence, providing technical assistance and guidance on women’s economic empowerment; conducting research on the status of women entrepreneurs; Training of rural women)
- Health (information campaign about HIV and women's reproductive health, awareness raising about drug abuse)
