Launch of a new project “Strengthening social cohesion through participation and promotion of rights among young women and men vulnerable to radicalism.”

With financial support of the Global Affairs Canada (Canada’s International Development – Global Affairs Canada) and in cooperation with the General Prosecutor Office of RT, UNDP launched a new project “Strengthening Social Cohesion through Participation and Advancement of Rights Among Young Women and Men Vulnerable to Radicalism”. The first Steering Committee meeting of the project was held in UNDP office in Dushanbe on 20 January 2023.

The initiative is aimed at further bringing the national legislation and policy on prevention of violent extremism (PVE) in line with international standards, establishing formal mechanisms of interaction and coordination between PVE actors, building institutional and individual capacity of key government and national non-government actors and improving collaboration with civil society institutions and the media. Moreover, the project intends to build resilience of young people to violent extremism in targeted districts.

Recognizing the need to implement the project in a timely manner and facilitate rapid decision-making, the members of the Steering Committee agreed to closely coordinate the planned activities and provide mutual support during the implementation process.
